Hmmmm, it has been a while. This past week has entailed adjusting to a new slate of work responsibilities and hours, and preparing for this coming week in Michigan, including the 1,001 little errands that must be done in preparation for time away from home (automotive, housecleaning, workplace, packing, seeing about mortgage in order to buy gas to get out of the state ...). Hope to get on the road early Tuesday morning, cut through Ontario and emerge at Port Huron, then keep ambling westward into the greater Grand Rapids region. We'll be going to a couple small towns where my mother spent part of her childhood, before the Depression sent the family on the road south looking for work.

My mother's Aunt Marguerite is out of the hospital and at her home; thanks to all those who thought of her and expressed warm wishes. She doesn't feel strong enough to feel comfortable hosting guests, so we're actually going to be staying at an area motel with a reasonable weekly rate and then visiting her and assorted other of my mother's relatives and their convenience allows. The other aunt, Verba, remains in nursing care in Grand Rapids and, from what we're hearing, is likely to remain there for the forseeable future and probably beyond.
